Patch Test

The Patch Test is used to identify allergens responsible for delayed allergic reactions, often related to substances in contact with the skin, such as fragrances, metals, or chemicals. Small patches containing different allergens are applied to the patient’s back and left in place for 48 hours. During this period, the patches should remain dry and undisturbed. The skin is then evaluated at specified intervals to check for any delayed reactions. Patch testing is essential for diagnosing conditions like contact dermatitis and helps guide avoidance strategies and treatment plans for long-term management.
